POLLARO + STEINWAY
Founded in 1857, Steinway & Sons has produced more than 600,000 world-class pianos. In 1877, Steinway formed a special department for the creation of art-case pianos. The new department invited artists outside of Steinway to design and produce custom made art cases, which were offered at premium prices. Few firms have had the opportunity to participate in this specialized and rarefied area of production. Pollaro has worked hand in hand with Steinway since 1996. During that period, we have created 26 art-case pianos for the greatest connoisseurs around the world.
Pollaro is capable of designing and building an absolutely unique and impeccable piano to fit any context. We can design the piano from a clean sheet or work with you to realize a specific design ambition. The sky is the limit.

POLLARO + BRAD PITT
In 2008, Hollywood actor Brad Pitt commissioned a custom desk from Pollaro, which was delivered to his home by Frank Pollaro personally. It was during this visit that Frank noticed an open sketch book containing hundreds of sketches that Brad had created over a 10-year period. Inspired by what he saw, he encouraged Brad to consider transforming his drawings into reality.
From this moment of inspiration, a unique collaboration was born—a collection of furniture defined by fluid lines, pleasing proportions and unequalled material selection. Both Pitt and Pollaro dedicated hundreds of hours to realizing the design vision for each creation, and every limited-edition piece is numbered and signed by both Brad Pitt and Frank Pollaro.

The Checker Chair is designed to fit a variety of interiors, and is available in a variety of materials. Shown here are the original French polished Checker Chair, Bubinga burl, Olive Ash burl, French walnut and Circassian walnut branch veneer. Also available in Royal ebony, dark ebony, and goat skin.
Wood selections are available in limited edition, with a complementary array of metal finishes.
The chair has an invisible two-position reclining mechanism which functions by simply pushing the body backward. Available in a variety of fabrics.

Mondavi Centenary Table
This table was made in collaboration with the Robert Mondavi Winery and Margrit Mondavi, Robert’s wife. Designed to commemorate Robert’s 100th birthday, the table is made of a rare claro walnut log, which was harvested near the winery. The edge of the table is inlaid with persimmon wood in the diameter of wine corks-, to honor the persimmons that grow on the property – one of Mondavi’s favorite fruits. The six-sided base is hand carved and gilded to reflect Robert’s core values:
